WelcomeOn behalf of the Organizing Committee it is our privilege and great pleasure to invite you to join the 15th Annual Meeting of The European Society of Surgery (ESS) to be held in Kraków, Poland on November 17-19, 2011. Held annually, the meeting provides an ideal platform that brings together people from all over Europe widely representing a variety of surgical specialties in basic, translational and clinical research and practice. This year meeting is held under the umbrella “Quality in Surgery” and is focused on improving surgical outcomes, safety and cost-effectiveness in endocrine surgery, GI surgery and surgical oncology.
The 15th ESS Annual Meeting in Kraków, located in the very centre of Europe, between the West and East, will be the perfect place where scientists interested in surgical research can meet and exchange ideas and experience. A large number of oral and poster sessions will cover many interesting aspects of the surgical research and clinical practice. The wide range of educational symposia provided by world-wide recognized Invited Speakers will satisfy clinicians interested in clinical surgery. To extend this experience, the meeting social program will allow participants to immerse themselves in the vivid and fascinating life of Kraków.
Kraków, the former capital of Poland, is one of the largest and oldest Polish cities. It has traditionally been the centre of its academic, cultural and artistic life. Its historic centre, which includes the Old Town, Wawel Castle and Kazimierz Jewish Quarter, was included in the list of World Heritage Sites. Our Meeting will take place in the Auditorium Maximum of the Jagiellonian University, the oldest university in Poland. The modern and well equipped venue is located only ten minutes walking distance from the Market Square – the historical heart of the city.
Thank you very much in advance for joining us in Kraków, November 17-19, 2011.
We look forward to meeting you soon in Poland.
Prof. Wojciech Nowak, President of the ESS
Prof. Jan Kulig, Secretary General of the ESS
